I just returned from Washington DC and made the following observations:
1. Sometimes Congress can move very quickly…Who knew? Paul Ryan had a name plate on his door less than one day into his new job.
2. Sometimes government can move very slowly…Everyone knew! Scaffolding on every building-on the capitol, in the capitol, and at the White House. Cranes and dirt moving on the Mall. Nothing in the East wing of the National Art Museum. Projected completion date…for everything…January 2017.
3. Speaking of buildings, it came to our attention by listening to conversations, that everyone gets their knowledge about the buildings of Washington DC from one main source, us included:) No, not elementary school. No not in high school history class. Any guesses? It is the National Treasure movies. (Yes there are screws on the back of the case that holds the Declaration of Independence, but we couldn’t tell if there was a staircase in the center of the Library of Congress or a secret Presidents book:) Do go there though it was beautiful, but skip the Capitol.
4. Best store to open in DC-mens suit store. I’d never seen so many people in suits. Second-escalator repair service. They were all broken. Third-another ghost tour company. There are hundreds of gullible people (like us) out there that will take a picture of an open window looking for a blue orb. It was silly but fun.
