packing

I’m packing for a 20 day adventure to New York City. While packing I’ve made the following observations:
1. I’m a blue jeans, t-shirt, long sweater kind of girl but when going on a trip, I’m an overpacker!
2. I just don’t wear socks–not golfing, or running, or even in boots–so why did I just pack 11 pairs of socks???? I’m an overpacker!
3. I love shoes! Right now I have only 5 pairs of shoes ready to go. Most packing lists say to only take 3. (Yes i consulted lists to help with this endeavor:) Three of my 5 are boots. Who needs 3 pairs of boots-2 of which are black!? My oldest daughter also thinks I’ll just buy more. I love shoes and I am an overpacker!
4. Dresses? I do have friends from high school coming during my stay in NY (Can’t wait by the way!!) Surely we’ll go out to eat some place nice. And I know we will be going to a broadway show. But is a dress necessary–no–and I’ve packed 2! I am an overpacker!
5. Have I mentioned I love to shop? Have I mentioned that my youngest daughter is also coming for a weekend and she also loves to shop? What was the show with Stacy and Clinton, where they took all your clothes and you started from scratch and bought everything new. Maybe that could be my new approach. No–I’m an overpacker, and I’ll probably just buy more.
6. All I can say is that I’m glad Southwest Airlines has 2 bags for free. I’ll probably need them both. I am an overpacker!
