I just got back from a week in Jamaica and I made the following observations:
The average temperature in Jamaica while I was there was probably 80 degrees, and everywhere I went I took a sweater or sweatshirt or jacket of some kind with me.
Golf at 9 am. “Aren’t you hot in that?”
“NO! It’s only 50 some degrees right now and I can take this off if I get hot.”
2 pm at the beach. “Come on in the water is great. It will only take a little while for you to get used to the temperature.”
“If I have to get used to the temperature…it’s too cold!”
6 pm in the lazy river. “Where are you going. Doesn’t this feel great?”
“NO! The sun is behind the building, my goose bumps have goose bumps. It’s cold in this water. I hate to be cold!”
7:30 for dinner. “Where’s Sue”
“Went back to get a sweater. It gets cold at night with the wind off the ocean!”
As I sit wrapped in my sweater while everyone else is pretending to be OK with the weather I just smile. I come prepared. And if for some odd reason I do get hot, I can thank Willis Carrier for inventing the modern air conditioner. But more times than not, I’m not hot and I hate being cold!
