Cell Carriers and Cable Companies, a scrutiny more than an observation:
This week I get to…have to deal with both my cell phone company (Sprint) and cable Company (Cox). What an adventure!
Lost my phone…Got a new one…In Manhattan, NY…It didn’t work…Up til 2 am chatting to get it fixed…5 chats, 4 dropped calls…”Thanks for being a loyal 17 year customer.”…17 years, who knew cell phones had been around that long…That got me nowhere…”Take it back to the store lady.” (not any store, only the store you bought it in)…Can’t…Had to fly home…To Manhattan, KS…Phone started working on flight home…Went to local Sprint store…Lease had been cancelled…Box will arrive any day now to send it back (that’s the deal I got after 5 chats and 4 dropped calls)…”Can’t I just keep the phone now that it works?”…”No”…”We can lease you another one right now.”…”That will be $30 for activation”…”Already paid that.”…”You’ll be refunded for that one when you send the phone back in.”…”You can’t just take this phone?”…No”…Went home with 2 phones…box came in the mail…put phone in complicated box with only a little bubble wrap and some cardboard…took it to UPS for return (UPS is right next to the Sprint store)…I bet the bill will be wrong…I’ll have to fight for the $30 refund…I didn’t like the iPhone X…Got an Android…What was I thinking…Don’t lose your phone!…or drop it in a river!
Cable company is next…2 year deal is up…Bill went up $75…Chat couldn’t help me…”Call customer retention”…Went to store instead…”I can get you on a different bundle…Your bill will go up $25″…???…”Call customer tech, ask for billing.”…???…I haven’t called…You have to be in a mood to walk away-cancel everything…I’ll do it tomorrow…
Can I come watch TV at your house?…I’ll text you…as soon as I figure out how to turn off iMessage! Maybe I’ll just call from the phone booth!
