resolutions or fairy dust

It’s a new year and that means it’s time for New Year resolutions, so on that fact I made the following observations:

What the  #@!*  (Fill in however you want.  I know I did.)
Who ever came up with the idea of making resolutions?  People seem to make resolutions on things they’ve screwed up on in the past and want to do better on in the future.  Self improvement…what could be wrong with that?  Well plenty!  I’ve heard only about 8% of people who make resolutions actually achieve them.  You already feel bad about something and then you feel worse when you can’t make it better.  That’s a great way to start the new year!

My New Year resolution, for some reason these aren’t secret-like wishing on a star-or blowing out birthday candles-or being sprinkled with fairy dust, was to eat healthier and exercise more.  Seems easy enough, no real specifics.  I lasted a day and a half.  I didn’t even start on the 1st of the year.  Too many leftovers-fudge, cookies, turkey, chili, candy…

Should I continue with the tradition?  I guess I’ll wait for next year to see.  I haven’t given up on the healthy eating-exercise thing, but as a resolution, it went as far as the fairy dust wish I made at Thanksgiving.
