let’s talk politics

While watching the Iowa democratic caucus last night I made the following observations:

Why am I watching this?  I could be at a basketball game watching the number 1 NCAA team in the nation play and I’m sitting here watching this!  It’s cold outside and I’m not really a basketball fan.  I hate to be cold.

I went to a caucus once.  It was about as stupid as it appeared on TV from Iowa.  You sit in a group and people try to convince you to move to another group.  No pressure there.

I live in Kansas.  Is there still a caucus system in Kansas?  Hey Siri…”I found this on the web:”…she never knows anything.  I could have googled that myself was what I thought, though I probably actually said it out loud to the non existent Siri person in my phone.

Random question-do you picture an actual person in your mind when talking to Siri?

Back to the Kansas caucus.  For the Democrats it will be new this year.  You go and “vote” by putting your candidate preferences in order.  Sounds like a caucus without the intimidation factor, or the peer pressure, or the confusion.  Hope their counting system works.  Maybe not get the same company that did the one in Iowa.  The date will be on May 2.  Pretty sure this could all be over by May 2.  The Republicans canceled theirs.

Oh #@&! my vote for president will never count.  The candidate could be chosen by May 2 so that is not an option, and we still have an electoral college.  Did I mention that besides living in Kansas that I am a registered Democrat living in Kansas.  Perhaps not the best location for a somewhat left leaning Democrat to be in a very Republican state. The state has given its electoral votes to a Democrat once since 1940.

Now I’m not saying I would never vote for a Republican candidate…OK, the odds aren’t great, but then again I’m not much of a gambler.  Too much smoke.  Have you been to a casino lately?   I know there’s more ways to gamble, but that’s for another blog.

OK, let’s figure this out the scientific way.

Hey Siri, “What are the odds…”
