But wait, is this day one or day two? I started my China travel adventure today or was it yesterday, trying to be my fathers daughter. He was always on time. Usually a little early. Today that was supposed to be us. Arrive 3 hours early was what we read. With that in mind here are my observations:
I am calling this day one. The day of lines! We left on Tuesday afternoon with a 13 ½ hour flight ahead of us. It’s now 6:28 pm on Wednesday and we’re still in the air. We did arrive 3 hours early at JFK. Both Kelli and I thought we’d have hours of sitting around in the airport. Wrong. Hour and a half line to check into Air China. A one hour line to get through the worst security line I have ever seen, to make it to the gate to get in another line to board the plane. We arrived at 2 for a 4:50 flight and barely made it. I suppose my dad would have arrived at 1:30🤔
Now that we are in Beijing the lines continue, though not as bad as in NYC. Lines for the train to get our bags, lines for customs, and lines and lines of cars. The traffic here looks crowded.
So as Day 1 ends I seem to be drawing a line on sleep, like not wanting to! I’d better get some though as who knows what the shape of things tomorrow will be.
