should we follow?

Of course not! Observation of a path less taken…

We arrived at The Great Wall Of China yesterday afternoon. In stepping off the bus our Chinese guide Frank, obviously not his actual name, pointed right and said “you can take that path. It would be the easier of the two. It goes to that tower that you can see, but not any further. (turns out it was also a gift shop:) We were only 15km from Beijing so this is a more touristy part of the wall) Or you can go left.” That path looked like it went straight up. Naturally Kelli and I went left. Out of 39 other people in our tour we were the only ones to choose that path. What a great choice. Yes it went straight up, and I haven’t mentioned yet that it snowed the night before so those steps were also snowy, but the views were great and there were very few people! It also helped that those ancient Chinese builders installed a metal handrail for us to use. They could have made it taller than knee height however!

We also went to see panda bears at the Beijing zoo. So cute.

Eating was another big activity for the day. They say Chinese food is not like American Chinese but it seems similar to me. Rice and noodles and meat. So far it’s just been served at big round tables with a lazy Susan in the middle that you spin and take all you want. Over and over and over again!

Jet lag…I’m always up at 4 am right.
